Eligibility

To be eligible you must:

be aged between 18 and 30 inclusive at the time of application
be a citizen of New Zealand
not have previously participated in this Working Holiday Program
intend to primarily holiday in Norway
hold medical and comprehensive hospitalisation insurance for the length of your stay
have a return ticket or sufficient funds to buy one
meet health and character requirements
must not be accompanied by children

Visa Fee

The visa costs NZ$363.

Proof of Funds

You must be able to prove you have access to NZ$7,500 with no return air ticket or NZ5,500 with a ticket. You must prove this with either a bank statement or certified copy. Internet or ATM statements will not be accepted unless they bear the applicant's name and have been certified as correct by the bank.

Quota

There is no known quota.

Validity

The visa is valid for a stay of 12 months from the date of registration with the Norwegian Police Authorities which must take place within 7 days of arrival in Norway. It is possible to apply for an additional 12 months. You must enter Norway within 6 months of the work permit granted.

Employment Restrictions

You may only work a maximum of 3 months with any one employer.

Re-Entry

You may leave and re-enter multiple times but the time allowed for your visa will not be paused while you are away.

How to Apply

Applications can be lodged with any Norwegian Consulate Office in New Zealand (Christchurch or Wellington), the Norwegian Embassy in Canberra, or at any Norwegian Embassy in any country where the applicant has legally resided for a minimum of six months. Applications will take a minimum of six weeks to process. Download the application form.

General Comments

You may study on this visa but not for longer than 3 months.
