Eligibility

To be eligible you must:

be aged between 18 and 30 inclusive at the time of application
be a Canadian citizen
not have previously participated in this Working Holiday Program
meet health and character requirements
not be accompanied by dependents

Visa Fee

The fee costs CDN$100 payable to the New Zealand High Commission in Ottawa by personal cheque, money order or bank draft.

Proof of Funds

You must have a minimum of NZ$4,200 and be able to prove this with a current bank statement or letter from your bank.

Quota

There are 2,000 visas available each year from January 1st on a first come, first serve basis.

Validity

The visa is valid for 12 months. Successful applicants have one year to enter New Zealand after being granted the visa.

Employment Restrictions

You must not take up permanent employment (unless you apply for and are granted an ordinary Work Permit while you are in New Zealand).

Re-Entry

You may leave and re-enter multiple times but the time allowed for your visa will not be paused while you are away.

How to Apply

You can apply online at the Immigration New Zealand website or print off the application form and send it to the New Zealand High Commission in Ottawa with the required documents and your passport.

General Comments

You can enrol in one training or study course of up to 3 months in length. You can apply for this visa as part of the SWAP Program.
