Eligibility

To be eligible you must:

be aged between 18 and 30 inclusive
hold a valid Australian passport
be residing in Australia at the time of application
posess a return ticket or the funds to purchase one
meet health and character requirements

Visa Fee

No fee. Woo hoo!

Proof of Funds

You must have a minimum of AUD$2,500 (AUD$3,500 for a couple) in available funds.

Quota

No known quotas.

Validity

The visa is valid for 6 months from the date of first entry. This may be extended for another 6 months by Immigration Authorities once in Japan. You have 3 months from the date the visa is issued to enter Japan.

Employment Restrictions

May not be employed as dancer, singer, musician, acrobat or in other entertainment professions.

Re-Entry

Working Holiday visas are single entry. If you must leave Japan for any reason and wish to return, you must obtain a re-entry permit from the Immigration Authorities before leaving Japan.

How to Apply

Applications must be made in person and applicants may be interviewed. You must apply at the Japanese diplomatic or consular mission responsible for the Australian State in which you reside (contact details below).

General Comments

You must apply for alien registration at a local government office within 90 days of arrival in Japan.
