Eligibility

To be eligible you must:

be aged 18 amd 30 inclusive at the time of application
hold an Australian passport valid for the entire period of your intended stay
meet health and character requirements
not be accompanied by dependants

Visa Fee

The visa costs AUD$190 payable by bank cheque or Australia Post money order made payable to the Canadian Consulate General. Australians applying from overseas may pay with an international bank draft in Australian dollars. Cash, credit and personal or company cheques are not permitted.

Proof of Funds

You must have approximately AUD$4,000 in available funds and may be asked to prove this when you enter Canada in the form of travellers' cheques, cash, or a bank or credit card statement in your name.

Quota

No quota.

Validity

The visa is valid for 24 months from the date you enter Canada. You have 12 months from the date the visa is issued to enter the country.

Employment Restrictions

There are no restrictions on how long you can work for any one employer. If you plan to work in education or medical fields you may be required to undergo a medical examination in Canada.

Re-Entry

You may leave and re-enter multiple times but the time allowed for your visa will not be paused while you are away.

How to Apply

Go to http://www.whpcanada.org.au/apply_online.shtml and follow the instructions. The visa application should take about four to six weeks to process.

General Comments

There is no limit to the number of times you can enter Canada on the Working Holiday visa if you continue to meet the age and other requirements. You may apply for the visa from outside of Australia as long as you have an Australian mailing address. You can enter Canada on a one way ticket but may need to show evidence of enough funds to pay for a ticket to leave Canada at the end of your stay.
